The Awakening

God Come Down Christos 1974
God Come Down is a creative amateur rock production that thematically portrays the life of Christ in song. The group consists of four guys and four girls, identified on the back cover only by their first names. No indications as to where they're from, nor are there any track titles listed on the cover or label, hence the whole project has an air of mystery about it. Good homemade electric sound coupled with artsy intentions. Attractive use of harp throughout along with some noteworthy lead guitar. They sample plugged?in folkrock, melodic light rock, simple acoustic tunes with harmonica or flute, even some hard rock and psychedelic moves, including some dreamy echoed vocal effects and crude bursts of fuzz guitar (the latter occurs as Jesus confronts the Pharisees). Female drummer (Cindy) and upright bass player (Marilyn, looking extremely sophisticated in her wide-brim hat). A very cohesive and satisfying work. KS
