Running Back Creative Sound 1972
There they go: five guys and three girls running through a field, faces plastered with exuberant smiles. Another Campus Crusade For Christ outfit that travelled the globe performing their cheery robust folk songs to the masses. This is one of their early albums that's spared the easy listening overload of some later efforts. On record The Forerunners come across rather generic and low on originality - not necessarily bad but it's the kind of group that can change faces every year and still sound identical. In fact they're virtually indistinguishable from the eary work of their fellow Crusaders The New Folk. Most all cover songs including some odd secular choices like 'Here There And Everywhere', 'Windmills of Your Mind' and 'Feelin' Groovy' (which I can only take so many listens of before I start turning violent). The spiritual material has more tolerable results. KS
