Whose Idea of Fun is a Nightmare? Dovetail 1975
It may seem strange to think of poet Stewart Henderson as part of the Jesus Music movement, but in the mid to late 70's he toured with various Christian groups throughout Britain, and released one album of poems, "Whose Idea of Fun is a Nightmare?", set to music. Like so many secular pop poets of the 60s, Stewart came from Liverpool, with a typical scouser's sense of humour, reflected in many of his poems.

Stewart was also for a time part of "The Biggles Band" - performing a mixture of poems, songs and sketches with the accent on humour. To get some 18,000 people at an open air festival all doing the bagpipes solo from "Mull of Kintyre" takes some nerve - which they had in abundance.

Whether solo or with others, Stewart could always be relied upon to make Christians and non-Christians alike laugh, and then stop and think. Even today, some of Stewart's poems from "Whose Idea..." appear in his performances. Particularly check out "I'm dousing myself with cosmetics" - if a poem can be said to be a greatest hit, this is Stewart's.
